I'm thinking about adding some light to my old Logitech mouse, but i've lost my multimeter, so i'm hoping someone here knows. I Need to know what pin's at the chip is the +5V and Ground. This is the victim: And here's the inside + chip.
If you can't trace where the red and black wires from the cable go to on the IC, then you can just wire up the LED directly from the red and black wires of the mosue cable. That's what I did, but on my USB mouse, the LED stayed lit even if the PC is turned off. I'm not sure if this would also happen on PS/2 mice, or if the LED was hooked up in the IC though.
Just for good measure... PS/2 ports (mouse and keyboard) pin 3 - GND pin 4 - +5vdc Not sure what the max current is for each port... but i'm certain its not a lot... If nothing else, whip up a continuity tester with an led (with appropriate resistor depending on power source voltage) and power from a battery or whatever power source. Trace the wires out that way to find the right pins to tap off of.
