Nice cooler! Just curious how are the fans powered on this aftermarket cooler?

Nice work. Glad you took the chance with that cooler.

Nice temps. What is the sound levels like compared to the old cooler?

Currently plugged into the card itself but the cooler did come with a 3 pin to Molex lead
I was going to ask, can I leave it like this and still set up fan profiles in Afterburner or does it need to be Molexed?

Missus needed to go to bed just as I finished, so no time at all for any kind of testing!
Initially seems a fair bit quieter than stock.

This I'm surprised by! So the Gelid has a fan header that can be installed on the graphics card itself? That's really quite something! Please let us know if fan speed can be controlled using MSI Afterburner.

Here are a couple of screenshots displaying the fan profile I set in Afterburner and the GPUZ screenie of the temp as the system booted into Windows.
Will post load temps tomorrow as Battlefield is downloading a stupid update right now. (Also shown is a Custom PC benchmark for no other reason than to show off!)

Also changed the thermal paste to Arctic Silver and used the Custom PC method of spread evenly using clingfilm covered index finger.
The stock fan had TONS of thermal compound...waaaayyy too much IMO.

This could be a good little upgrade for my top GTX 460 card that runs in SLI simply thinking ahead to reduce the temperature under full load. Give the card some decent stress Somer_Himpson to observe how this Gelid cooler deals with the heat. I would suggest FurMark, even though the Nvidia chip can throttle back, at least the program does give a decent thermal test to any GPU!

Good choice on the AS5! Also how much contact does the Gelid cooler base plate make with the GTX 570 GPU/Heatspreader? From what I read it seems the Gelid contact surface is marginally smaller.

Just done both my 570's, they really do put a hellalot of compound on there.

With this Gelid VGA Cooler? How far does it intrude upon the third Motherboard slot?

Sorry I made myself incredibly unclear! I just meant I'd re-applied the thermal compound, both of mine are Twin Frozr/Windforce cards so the coolers are adequate enough for me!

Did the TIM re-application help? Put some AS5 on my GTX 460 when they first arrived!

I've not tested on load yet, idle made about 3*C difference on the Twin Froz II, not tried the Windforce yet

OK, after much testing, the card topped out at 860 core 2265 MEM with no additional voltage applied.
This is on Forceware 285.62 drivers.
This represents a 18.95% increas on the Memory and a 17.5% increase on the core.
The temps levelled off at 48 degrees MAX.

    Are these figures decent enough?

The contact plate is smaller than the heatspreader but the temps I am getting seem very impressive so far..a massive improvement over the stock MSI cooler.

Those temperatures are stupendously good! Just ordered one of these coolers to see if I can lower the temperature on my top GTX 460 SLI card. I'm hopeful I can get it around the 60 degrees mark with this Gelid ICY VISION installed. I unlocked the voltage on both my GTX 460 so I'm curious if the increased cooling capacity will allow me to push it further, at least on the Gelid ICY VISION upgraded GTX 460! :D
