I recently purchased an MSI Z97i motherboard and fitted a G3258K cpu into it. The problem I have is that OC Genie is able to overclock it by adjusting the multiplier up to 43 but the UEFI won't let you change the multi manually once genie is turned off. Is this how it's supposed to be or is there an issue with my board? If you could ask around for me that would be great. Thanks Didn't get any response via PM so thought I'd copy and paste it here.
I'd start off by resetting the BIOS to factory defaults and then following that, updating it to the latest available. Once it has been updated, reset it to factory defaults again and try once more. Unfortunately, I don't have any of the latest MSI motherboards to hand so I really can't offer you much advice.
It's on the latest bios as I updated it myself as soon as I got the board but I will give resetting a try thanks.
Hmm. That's one thing off of the checklist then. It may actually be an MSI thing, but why not leave OC Genie on and then adjust it yourself according to what you want? I'm sure you can fiddle with the voltages and such once it is set.
I think genie is fully automatic unfortunately but I will look into that a bit deeper as I'm not 100% sure on that.
I only have a Z77 MSI board and that is my Dads. I have a Z87 board in a friends system but I won't be able to pester him until Friday or Sunday night. I'm sure you'll have someone else along to help you before then though. Hopefully someone will be along shortly.
