This is my first major mod (and 1 i actaully plan on completing). The idea is to have 1 unit that contains :- Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Nvidia 6600 GT PCI-Express 256Mb DDR III 2x 512mb Kingston HyperX pc3200 4x 120Gb SATA HDD's DVD ReWriter PCI TV Card Some form of Fan controller ( i like the look of this one GateWatch ) And last but not least :- An XBOX This is the case i plan to start with will get my sketches etc up l8r
sketches as promised Now yes they ARE rough (amazin what u come up with while stood at the bar ) Will post pics of progress on the front later
Okay Nice case but the art of you I can`t see realy goood can`t you make it on the Pc... but waiting for updates
I think it gonna be nice.. Now I m realy looking forward to see updates but don`t you make more blowholes and messege cables and more???
First thing i started on was the front. I HAD to get rid of all 3 of those awful buttons. Wish i had taken more pics but this is where i am now after some cutting & filler work. The large hole at the bottom is having mesh inserted from behind and i'm hopin to fit a 120mm fan in the case to help with airflow. As for the top of the case i'm planning on using 2 sets of XBOX power/eject buttons, 1 set for the XBOX & 1 set for the PC. I'm leaning towards black as the base colour for the mod but i'm not ENTIRELY sure. Also the the side panel i would like windows but cant think what shape, perhaps the XBOX ' X ' over the XBOX motherboard but i cant think of what to put over the AMD 64.
That's a good start, especially for a first mod... my compliments ! I'm really lookin' forward to see this huge case's transformation ! All I can say, keep up the good work... lookin' forward to it!
Looks Good Looking good but then again i av seen it in the flesh so to speak... cant wait to see it at a l8r stage
Just some pics of the case NAKED so to speak, I have already removed the motherboard tray & 3 1/2" cradle and started sanding it down ready for it to be painted (hoping to be able to get it powder coated ) The hatched area will need to be removed and replaced with a custom plate pop rivited into place a quick piccy of the mesh i got from B&Q. not exactly what i want but best so far
Just put the motherboard, ram, gfx card etc (still not got the sata drives yet thats to come) together and noticed that the 6600GT gets HOT so i'm gonna have to figure out a fix for that. Performance wise tho it ROCKS. 3265 on 3DMark05 old pc strugled to even run the damn thing
Ok another update Mesh & front (the mesh is bent like that coz i already test fitted it b4 the pic ) Mesh test fitted After ages trying to get the mesh to fit perfectly i finally gave in (by that i mean throw it across room) and decided to strip the xbox down and make sure everything was gonna fit properly. The Victim Stripped down and extra power button assembly Arranged parts to make sure power lead etc would be long enough. Yep the lead is tight but long enough. Dont worry about the crappy PSU its an old one i'm using just to get size etc. Am gonna make some acrylic mounting plates for the XBOX motherboad & psu. After measuring it all up (XBOX,PSU & case) i find i have less than 6mm space between xbox motherboard and rear of the drive cage . Only Just enough. Next step is to get the mounting plates made & rear of case cut, hopefully get that done 2morrow
pics are a bit blurred but i can see what u upto...if all goes well should look sweet I like the idea with the 2 xbox power/eject assemblies....1 for PC and the other for the xbox......
PS2 is a no no. dont like console for 1 and room is a bit tight, espcially as i'm looking towards water cooling at a later stage. The main reason the xbox is off in there is when i go out to LAN parties etc the xbox goes along to run as a linux gameserver and i also do a fair amount f dev work on the xbox so its always connected to the PC.
