    Long time since I modded a case.... But real life gets very "intrusive" when you have 2 children less-than-3 years old :D

    Anyway, this is not a log because the mod was done in one week and I had no camera to get progress pictures... So here is the final result

    Here is a teaser:

    [IMG]

    The case is a standard no-brand ATX one; it came with two blow holes in the side panel and some funny lighting on the sides of the front panel.

    Here is what I made:

    - all PSU cables sleeved;
    - all fan cables sleeved;
    - modified Aerogate with an ON/OFF switch;
    - added an EL strip around the window side;
    - UV neon to light the IDE UV cables;
    - front lights flash with hdd activity;
    - cut a window in the side panel;
    - placed three mirrors on the ground panel;
    - added two handles on the top panel.

    OK, so here are some pics:

    here is the motherboard; you can see the Arctic Cooling heatsink, the GeForce card and the mirror on the ground;

    here you can see how the mirrors overlap;

    another shot "from the mirror"....

    can you see the modded Aerogate?

    [IMG]
    that's it! I've removed the small fan and added a switch. The switch turns on/off the Aerogate (so the fans) and all the lighting in the case.

    this is the simple circuit I made: as the Aerogate uses both +12 and +5 it was necessary to use a relays to cut the power... The switch works on the +12 rail and feeds the relays.

    And now some action shots:

    here is the case closed

    back of the case; I've dremeled away the grill on the rear fan.

    [IMG]
    Power on! The system is booting, so the blue bars are flashing following HDD activity.

    [IMG]
    the Arctict Cooling heatsink in its glory....

    [IMG]
    all other lights and fans are off

    [IMG]
    turn on the switch!

    here is the UV neon.... My camera seems lazy in getting the right light effect.... I assure you that it's better IRL.

    [IMG]
    this is the EL strip that glows behind the window.... Again, the glow is nicer IRL

    [IMG]
    optical drives opened.... Introducing a DVD+RW and a CD-ROM...

    and finally THE MESS!!!!!

    I know it's not the cleanest installation, but I like it :D!!!!

    It was not a mirror, but it's better than the stock Intel heatsink I've used before this mod... Anyway my CPU is a P4 running @ 2,6 GHz, so it's not so critical....

    I'm going to test some overclocking anyway...

    Thanks!
