Don't really have any experience with MSSQL, so I'm a bit confused at the moment (wooot, no mssqldump command?!)

I need to move a database from an ancient server running MSSQL 8.0 (SQL Server 2000) to another one running version 11.0 (SQL server 2012). Both servers are the free Express edition.

In an ideal world I'd shut down the running SQL, copy over the .mdf file and use a magic Import button in a configuration interface on the new server.

So please tell me how wrong I am and how the world is far from perfect... :)
Anyone has some experience with this?
