You need 2 NIC (Network Card) 10 mb should be ok for what you want it for and an RJ45 cat 5 Cross over cabl. You also need 98 sr 2 or above or abouve to do ICS (Internet Connection Sharing).

Simplest way is as above, although it can just about be done with a serial cable, but you need to find some software to help with that and it's a bloody pain in the arse to get working. I've never succesfully shared an internet connection via a serial link, but I've heard it can be done.

Othe way is, sticking to ethernet (it's the way to go :D ), is to get a small cheap hub, and use that instead of a crossover cable....

There's no advantage to start with, but should you ever want to add a 3rd PC, if even temporarily, you have the option to do so.

A network starter kit consisting of 2 10Mbps network cards, 2 5m rj-45 utp patch cables and a 5 port hub will only set you back about £35 - which is barely more than you'd pay for a couple of cards and the cable anyway.
Plus you get a little box with flashing LEDs to look at :) :) :)

You can get a network starter kit at the moment from, dare I say it, Maplin for £20. It has two 10/100 NICs and an 8M of X-over cable....just the thing. Not usually one to reccomend Maplin prices, but this is a good enough deal!
