Networks Networking a Scanner

    does any of you lot know if its possable to network a standard scanner, and how u do it if it is possible.

    the only networkable standalone scanners are expensive ones that act like fax's and so on... cannon - richo - Xerox

    Sorry but you are wrong you can get hp scanners that do this, but they uses peer to peer networking. They are not very good, I had the unlucky task of setting up 12 pcs to share 3 of these scanners.

    Can network most UMAX Scanners too, just got a few firewire ones at work

    might there be a way to make like a print server only with a scanner?

    Yes, indeed this can be done. The scanner should come with software to allow this. My UMAX 2200SU (POS) has this capability, and it works ok, but never bothered with it.
