Sounds like a power error from the video-card indeed. Do you have all cables right? PCI-E and all on motherboard and so on. Also if you have a Hiper Type R psu! Check how to connect & how not to in the manual or on the homepage. Know I had to think twice when I got mine.
I do have an hiper. What was it that threw you for an loop? Im sure I got mine hooked up right as the system was running fine for the past 6months before the upgrade to an 2nd rad and DX10 GPU...
haha, ya. I was playing it the other day after the new patch came out. Was wondering if anyone would catch it. So what do you think would be a good # to look for as far as watt's? Im guessing around 800. Processor is an AMD 64X2
it really only needs like 450w, but you need to get one with good 12v rails.. dont just look at the wattage.. more is not always better in this case... i would go with at least a 600w, but something with good reviews, nice rail amperage, etc... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002 maybe thats a bit out of your price range, though.
ok. I went out today and bought a new PSU with an 850watt rating and a 28A rail rating: It is certified by NVIDIA to run the card and can be found here: http://www.coolermaster.com/index.p...BA&other_title=RS-850-EMBAReal Power Pro 850W http://store.nvidia.com/servlet/Con...dia&id=ProductDetailsPage&productID=58718800# beep is still there… Any idea why?
Have you connected all the additional power cables to the 8800? Try to get one on a cable from the PSU on it's own (i.e. no other devices) Then do a minimal boot, anything un-needed disconnected and see if it still beeps? What is the full spec of your machine (inc Hard Drives and optical drives, extra PCI cards, USB devices etc...)
It only takes a single 6pin connector(PCIe) as far as I know, and yep. The powersupply came with 6 cables with straight PCIe plugs on them, two of which also carries an 8pin connection. I have tried all 6 with nothing else attached to the others at the same time. When troubleshooting earlier, and looking for the source of the beep, (i thought it was the internal speaker) I unplugged the Graphics card after realizing that it was the only significant change I made while upgrading the system and the beeping stopped. Specs are as follows: 850watt Cooler Master Real Power Pro ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe ATX AMD Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 X2 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor PNY Geforce 8800GTS Video Card Creative SOUND BLASTER X-Fi Platinum Sound Card OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA II Hard Drive 2 Optical Drives 1 External Sound Port from the internal Sound card running in an PCI slot. Thanks for the help guys.
OK, it could be the memory on the GTS. Best thing to do is contact your retailer and request a new unit.
Should I call Newegg where I bought it about a month ago or PNY? Edit: scratch that. I see I need to call PNY
