hey everybody, i used to be really frequent to this site, but joined the military and haven't been able to be on as much. im now stationed in japan, and trying to get back into building/modding computers so here's a list of my next system. just wondering if there's any known issues with any of my hardware, and if there's anything im forgetting. this is just a build at this stage modding will come later lol here's the list case=antec 900 steal case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021 mobo=DFI LP DK 790FXB-M2RSH http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136057 vid cards= (2) HIS Hightech H485QS512P Radeon HD 4850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161243 psu=antec 650w http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371017 cpu=AMD Phenom 9950 black edition http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103291 ram=(2) CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145197 hdd= seagate barracuda 1t http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148274 dvd burner=liteon sata http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106265 cpu heatsink/fan=VANTEC VAF-1225 120mm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835110016 fans=(3) silverstone 120mm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835220014 keyboard/mouse= logitech mx 3200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126007 i used the silverstone fans in my last build and know they are good, but how good are the fans that originaly come with the antec 900 case? im also getting a tube of artic silver, already have a monitor. all feedback appreciated, thanks
Build looks fine, just one problem that I have spotted. The mother board supports Crossfire so two Nvidia cards will not work. Radeon 4850s might be a better option anyway. AMD seem to be more on the ball with driver updates. I also had some minor observations you might find helpful. With the Deneb 45nm CPUS due out in a couple of months it may be worth waiting to do the build. The 850W psu may be a bit more than you need. I haven't done any calcs but my gut feel is that the system would run under 500W. At PSU calc site that I have seen recommended in the past is: http://web.aanet.com.au/SnooP/psucalc.php Good luck with the build
you were right about the voltage, but i also plan on expanding once i have more money, possibly going into watercooling. still might go down to a 650 though thanks for the link. also thanks for the observation on the vid cards, ill look into that, as well as the new cpus comming out.
+1 to go for 4850s. They perform better then the 9800, and with that mobo they are the only ones that will perform anyhow Also, Bit-Tech has some awesome reviews on heatsinks for CPU, make sure you check those out before you buy. The MX 3200 is absolutely brilliant by the way, definately get that!
im looking at some of the 4850s right now, trying to pick on lol will deffinatly look at the heatsinks review thanks
