if he gets 1 get a manual and also make sure that its had some good oil in the gear box as getting from 3rd to 2nd or 1st is a bitch! or from 2nd to 1st is imposible unless u have stopped still.

    The way the cars are

had a race with a Impreza STI last week and it was just keeping up with me in 4th at 7000 rpm so its a fast car for a non turbo yet it has the Mivec so make sure its a mivec aswell

Imperial red is a great colour - looks stunning when it's all cleaned up :cooldude:

Great cars, the MIVEC engine is definitely the most sought after but can suffer bottom end failure unless you keep a close eye on the oil level!

That's a great looker, which engine is it? Didn't they do a V6?

Nice alloys too, they really suit an FTO.

im a big fan of the fto's a lad at our halls had one and my cousin used too have one aswell.

pretty rapid plus the smaller engine ones are reasonably cheap of the insurance, cant beat jap reliability either but as said above oil level checking is a must but its standard that if you drive a high performance car your well going to be on top of your car maintainence

IIRC, several different rated inline 4's and one V6. Think the Mivec is the V6. :)
Could be wrong, thats from memory!

I thought it was something like that, I just couldn't remember. They aren't particularily well-marked as to which one's which either from what I can remember. Don't see them that often any more either.

I need to sort a few problems out and get it as clean as the 1 above :) polish it to death :)

    Most common models are:
GS - 1.8 litre inline 4 125 bhp - not really worth buying tbh
    GR - 2.0 litre V6 180 bhp
    GPX - 2.0 litre V6 MIVEC 200 bhp
GP/ GPvR - 2.0 litre V6 MIVEC 200 bhp (lighter version of the GPX as they stripped the aircon out)

It's not really the type of car you'd buy for speed - they're between groups 12 & 18 for insurance so you could insure something alot faster for a similar price. Certainly a car with alot of character though, the MIVEC roar is obscene :D

I do like FTO's, and nearly bought one. Horrendously ugly from behind which I suppose isn't too bad because they are too underpowered to get in front of anything.

:hehe: I asked for that really

Yeah, don't like that front personally. Just something about the headlights that looks a bit imbalanced to me.

168BHP/ton is too slow to pass anything? Sounds like you've got too much of a superiority complex mushky... :p

had races with STI's and Civic Type R's and not had a problem with them tbh. also the saxo's and R5 GT Turbo's and all the boy racer cars are not a problem at all.
