Build Advice New rig

    Im about to buy the following:

    Case: Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced
    PSU: XFX 650w Modular Power supply

    Motherboard:ASUS P7P55D-E
    CPU: Intel core i5 750
    Cooling: Corsair H50-1
    Ram: G-Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz
    Graphics card: 1x Nvidia Geforce GTX 480

    What do you think before i buy?

    Im still debating

    1.Intel i5 or i7 LGA1156
    2. GTX 480 or HD 5870
    3. Higher end motherboard?

    I would change the psu, I would go for a Corsair myself.

    Go for the i7 LGA 1156, they overclock better and have hyper threading. Worth the money.

    You don't need a higher end motherboard since you are only using 1 graphics card.

    If you don't mind the extra heat, noise, and price. Then go for the GTX 480. Otherwise the 5870 is a great choice but about 10% slower.

    Motherboard is a good choice, what about a Gigabyte board? (P55A-UD3R)
    I would go for the ATI 5870, cheaper and runs cooler.

    Do you really need hyper threading? The i5-750 overclocks very well, possibly better than the i7 as for very high OCs you would need to disable the HT.

    Budget is £100-200 per component

    and £300-£400 on graphics

    For graphics I'd also go for the 5870. A 2GB Sapphire Vapor-X is within your budget and is quieter and cooler and uses less power than the GTX 480, and cheaper then most variants too. Performance wise the 480 has the edge on more games, but the 5870 does come on top of some games.

    oh sweet, thanks... i always wanted the HD 5870... but i have to admitt i've always had nvidia so this is a pretty big move :O
