    Improved HRTF modelling is a good advance, though the volumetric sound sources sounds like a hack to work around engines still lacking proper environmental sound modelling. And before we get the normal AUREAL 3D BEST 3D CREATIVE LABS MUST BURN crowd: A3D's HRTF is so common it's built into your motherboard's audio. I'm talking about proper simulation of multipath, frequency selective absorption/reflection, anisotropic surfaces (angled grills etc) not just "you can hear the gunshot echo!" flat plane refection.
