Not clocked anything yet (except softmod the 9800se to Pro). Might look at clocking it some later.

I ALWAYS benchmark with stuff going on in the background. If I strip down, and switch all processes off etc... it's not a real world test is it? When you play a game, do you spend 30 mins switching everything off... removing wallpaper, reducing desktop colour depth, making BIOS tweeks etc, or do you just run it and play? If that's not how you normally use your computer, then it's a pretty useless benchmark. Depends on the benchmark I suppose tho. If you want to run SANDRA tests, then fair enough, as that's a purely scientific measurement of your components, and you dont want anything interfering with it, as you're trying to establish what your equipment is capable of, or identify bottlenecks, but a game benchmark? Surely you want to know how your computer runs it in a real world situation.

Ok.... i'll play too... As usual... just ran it.. this is the one that's important to me. I'll tweak later just to play the game however :D

It's not real world no, but when going for the highest score possible (competing with other people using the same card) they'll use anything they can to get a higher score. Providing it's fair and doesn't yeild scores which are dodgy and full of bugs, I've got no problems at all with it.

I'll re-run it with my 9600XT later since I've got a new processor installed now :)

My directX 9 benchmarking is run on my main system drive, as I haven't got around to ghosting a tweaked OS with DX9 yet. Hopefully I'll get time for this at some point in the near future.

Very true... why else am I here. I've decided I need to overhaul my graphics however. 36sec SuperPi, yet only 6100 3DMark03.... Hercules Radeon9800Pro... you ARE the weakest link... Goodbye.

Pooky head that score is fine, you can't compare Nvidia VS ATI cars using the aquamark bechmark.

Aquamark is both host system (CPU/Memory/FSB) and graphics card dependent.

Graphics workloads in the benchmark are not equal between graphics brands. It has been surgested by the game developers in their own forums that the if the engine detects certain features are missing (from the card) then lower shader versions are used or even subsitution of shaders for lower versions to benifit the NV3x hardware limitations.

If benchmark workloads are unequal between different cards/brands the benchmark results are almost completely useless as are invalid for comparision.

You can use it for comparision within brands but not between brands.

    Yes, I do.

Hah... Even my 9600np can beat that.

    Yes, I do.

You do all that every time you use your computer? LOL.. a patient man. Surely all your apps run just fine without doing that. Maybe you enjoy it.. :hehe:

I know... pathetic isn't it. I was planning to buy another card last week, but the more i think about it, the more it seems to make sense to wait for PCI Express. After all... a 3DMark03 of over 6k is not too shabby. I can live with it for a few months :D

someone should make a table to put in the first post
like the superpi thread, a nice "at a glance" table

edit: what a coincidence, you are the thread starter
    well there you go :thumb:
