    Hey Everyone,

On a bit of clearout and have some old routers I've horded over the years.

Does anyone know if there would there be much market for them on ebay/Gumtree/Facebook market place etc?
If not does anyone know the best of disposing of them preferably not just tossing them in the black bin?

Not sure about saleability, it depends on their specs and capacity.
In terms of disposal, if your council is set up like where I live; the place for unwanted electronics is the small appliances bay at the local tip, not your normal black bin.

Yea they were pretty run of the mill ISP tripe even back in the day.

    Got
    Technicolour TG582n from Plusnet
    Sagemcom 2704N from Plusnet
    Sky Hub 2 (Model: SR102)
Openreach ECI Telecom 061513 Type 1B modem

Type of thing I would be happy to send out for postage or even my own dime rather than throwing them away. I guess something you would throw in a grandparents house or maybe a cheap way to extend a network if you could be annoyed. I know most ISP's have options for that themselves, TPLink Deco range exists and generally newer bands have almost made these redundant even for that. I am sceptical even for free there would be any market for them

Local dump has stuff for electronics but I am very highly sceptical anything actually gets recycled and not just sent to somewhere in Asia for them to deal with. Would far rather seek out an electronic specialist for recycling if they can't be rehomed

Our library has a dedicated electronics repair/reuse bin, although I'm not sure what percentage sees new life. Past that, I managed to sell some ever so slightly newer Sagem Plusnet Hubs on eBay, I'm guessing to people using them for projects. If they can be flashed with DD-WRT or whatever, there seems to be a slightly better demand. The security type might be a limitation in normal usage since the whole network downgrades to lowest denominator. Sometimes you can return them to the ISP in a pre-paid bag/box as well.

Otherwise, maybe recycle the shell etc as normal plastic if possible and take a universal adjusting tool to the chips to be doubly safe before relocating to the electronics recycling unit. Or make some art from them!
