Features On launch, is DayZ still worth playing?

More people are playing Borderlands 2 right now than DayZ, talk about outliving your usefulness.

Whilst I hope Bohemia did ok out of Dayz, it is a very good demonstration of the dangers of being first out of the door. While they were stumbling around figuring out what to make and how to finish it, everyone got to take a good look and decide how to do it better. So PUBG and Fortnite stole the best bits of the multiplayer PvP from it, whilst Subnautica and The Forest are much better survival games.

Which leaves poor old DayZ rather out in the cold now.

 

So, too little too late then?

 

I've just started playing it with a friend who's been playing it for years now.

It's comfortably the most fun I've had online since bad company 2.

You absolutely have to play with friends but every game is a story!

From that time I drank the wrong water and vomitted all over him...

To that time I hid behind a door, jumped out to shoot our assailant and had forgotten to reload my gun, so in a panic kept out the window and broke both my legs....

Or that time I beat a guy to death with a pink teddy bear....

Or when we found that rifle and just went to the coast to snipe newbies as they spawned....

Or that time we hid in the barn from this bloody wolves...

Or when we kidnapped that russian guy and forced him to eat his friend and he developed coroo and couldn't stop laughing....

Or time we just kept finding those piles of dismembered body parts and tracked that mad serial killer down and he killed us both....

 

Pretty much yep, the other big eternal early access survival game (Rust) "launched" like 10 month ago, not even to mention all the others that came out over the years while DayZ was in the oven...The Long Dark, Don't Starve etc.

 

I love the Walking Dead (comic) reference.

 

The modder's have given the game a pinpoint vision of light to work towards but by the time anything meaningful comes out of it i feel the player base will be long gone
