Well, I had a nice project going. Then I wasnt so nice to the project. I wasn't very happy with how poorly I did the metal work, time to restart.
o....k that pc looks fantastic... what did you think was wrong with it? the metalwork looks clean to me
Probably a rolling machine or something. Why'd you bash up your awesome shuttle? All it needed was some good filing and lots of metal polish and it would have been like a gundam character or something
It was all done with a broken dremmel and with forces created by my hands, sometimes my knee. I had it almost done (just needed painting) and I started to notice little things here and there, like the back corner started to tear more, and the metal didn't like where I filled in the gaps at the top and bottom of the faceplate. I had more minor flaws then those two things, but I tried and tried and couldnt get it right. This is the last picture I have before I de-modded it. You cant see any of the flaws I was talking about in the pic, but you can see why I didn't want to kill it. The alu on the bottom with the thumbscrews is how the top attached. The left side is barely crooked, and it took some force to get it all in place properly, and I believe that is why the metal in the rear corners started to split. DrDing, the handle has the curve, then a 1.5cm tab on each end that is bent to sit flat on a surface. The top of the case has two slits (one on the front, one on the back) and the tabs slide in and under and its all JBwelded stuck. That reminds me... Annother thing I didnt like was that the rear tab didn't stay attached to the top of the case properly. Even though I had it clamped, it still pulled away from the top. This was ok at first, but because it wasnt securely mounted, the bondo cracked when A lot of force was applied, and the back end pulled out. Of course that was with a lot of force, much more then the case alone.
I agree..if your not happy with it...tear down and start again. Why not weld it and then grid it to perfection?
