The developers of the original Operation Flashpoint are bitter that its reputation is being traded in to sell more copies of the sequel

 

Operation Flashpoint is just a name, i say let them have it. Bohemia Interactive should just make a "true sequel" that pwns what codemasters releases

 

Arma 2 looks interesting, though Bohemia need to do some work in the looks department

 

They did make a sequel, it's called Armed Assault, and Armed Assault 2 is coming out soon. The problem, as you've just demonstrated, is that few people know about it.

Plenty of people know about ArmA, it was just meh tbh.

 

Both are IDIOTS! Codemasters for releasing rendered shots and not telling us so. Bohemia for even taking the bate and releasing comments like this.

I hope Codemasters release a true Op Flash sequel. ArmA certainty wasnt. It was Broken as hell. So all ill say is.

It honeslty looks like your standard, graphically unpolished, eastern euro development. I hate to be cold like that, but it doesn't seem far from the truth...

 

Both of them are making new games due to be released this year.

ArmA2 - coming for PC and supposedly a nextgen console. (most likely 360)
OF2: Dragon Rising - coming for PC, 360 and PS3

They both look like they will be very good. But OF2 will pwn in the gfx department. I'm definitely getting OF2 when it comes out.

 

So did the original OFP. If you're playing a military simulator for the graphics, then you'll probably be disappointed. If you pore over contour maps prior to starting a game, then it's perfect. The graphics are mediocre at best, but it's the engine behind them where all the work has gone. Decent bullet physics (different rounds penetrate different depths of wall at different angles and ranges), no silly plinking at tanks with rifles until they explode, etc.
Think of it like comparing a flight simulator to Ace Combat. Both are about flying aircraft, but one tries to mimic reality as closely as possible, and one has highly polished graphics and single-handedly taking down impressive superwepons. Both are fun, but in different ways. If you tried playing an Ace Combat game as a simulator, you'd quickly be frustrated, and vice versa.

 

How old are you? This is a typical answer from someone that has his configuration as a sign... It's a Military SIMULATION, not stupid crysis, Half life or similar games for no-brains... when you will play Operation Flashpoint (original) in multiplayer with 8 more people, you can come here and say something...
