    Hello,
First, before I overclock, I would like to know what temperatures are normal. My CPU is running at 49C when just browsing the internet. Here are the specs from EVEREST.

    CPU Type Intel Pentium 4HT, 2600 MHz (13 x 200)
    CPU Alias Northwood HyperThreading
    Original Clock 2600 MHz
    Core Voltage 1.475 - 1.55 V
    I/O Voltage 1.475 - 1.55 V
Typical Power 38.7 - 89.0 W (depending on clock speed)
Maximum Power 49 - 109 W (depending on clock speed)

I don't think I really want to up the voltages because I don't want to break it or do something that will mess it up.. I just want to overclock as much as I can without upping the voltages.

49ºC seems a little on the high side when there's not alot of load, so before you do anything you might want to find yourself some better cooling. But when you do, as its a Northwood you should be able to get a pretty decent overclock out of it without even raising the voltage too much.

Yip, should be able to get to ~ 3ghz with little to no increase tbh, shouldnt affect temps too much either... those are a little on the high side, what case cooling are you running?

I don't know any specifics, but I just have a normal fan with CPU grease. There is a little "duct" or whatever it's called that allows the air to go directly out a tube outside the case.

    Is that what you mean?
    BTW, the case is 28C.

If the case is 28C, 49C nearly idle is way too high. I would say grab a better hsf combo.

that does seem abit high. Im running a P4 3.4HT (Prescott) at 35.5 C while idling (well web browsing and running Winamp...) with a case of 25.0 C. admittidly i did replace the stock cooler as soon as i got it. im now running a Gigabyte 3D cooler on there and its made a massive difference.

Damnit see I just got a HSF... I guess I got a cheap one.

I couldn't do anything else to get it to run cooler?

edit: Is there anyway I can make the fan go faster? I mean I'm sure I can, but does it run default at the max?

the fan as it is will be running at full speed (technically you can make it run faster, but it probably wont last very long)
what motherboard do you have, are you sure that it has overclocking features?

Oh yes I am sure it does.

It is an IC7-G MAXII ADVANCE.

The fan and heatsink and just normal CPU ones.

Lol thats the stock heatsink, the one that comes with the CPU. Do yourself a favor and read some reviews and get a better heatsink.
