    hey guys :)

    because the colour of my shuttle-motherboard is everything else but fine i plan to paint the pci-slots, sata-ports etc. i saw that a lot of times done with uv-reactive colour. but i dont need anything of that uv-stuff. i'm searching for normal black and red colours.
    what colours are made for painting such things? i know, the fluids shouldn't contain iron-particles (of course) but i can't find them anywhere. i'm located in europe/austria. maybe someone can help me finding them without ordering in china etc :)

    i'm searching for a paint, which i can apply to the pci-slots, sata-ports, etc.
    u know?

    @llamafur
    cause in my mod there only should be the colours red and black. therefore it will be needed.

    You are aware you're on a modding forum?

    He wants his shuttle mobo to look bitchin' and he wants to do it himself :)

    -- Acrylic paints would be usefull for this type of thing, just make sure you key the surface (sand paper) and apply a layer of primer to stop flaking.

    Just make sure you mask off contact pins and it shouldn't be a problem. If you can, it may be worth trying out the technique on an old spare board first.

    Don't forget to post back with pics when done and good luck!

    I'm sure that as long as you mask off the important slots(you know RAM, Expansion, CPU..) and cover the ports it's fine.

    Although I'm not too sure as how you're going to paint the ports, SATA and IDE and such.

    Thats the maiboard. First of all I want to paint the green RAM-slots. The heatpipe-system will be painted black with a few nice details.
    Other slots which will be painted are the ATX-port, IDE-port and the SATA-connectors.

    Hope there will nothing go wrong... :rolleyes:

    Best bet would to stick a dummy plug/connector into each slot/plug before you paint it so the contacts stay clean.

    There are heaps of little vregs, transistors and other parts, some large and some are tiny smd components, which run warm or even hot! With a coat of paint on top of any of these parts, warm and hot temps can easily become hot and gonna die soon temps... not all mobo's are as fragile as each other, maybe yours would be fine? I dunno.

    I'd much rather make a well ventilated mobo cover setup, or a well insulated mobo cover grill. Either would also look alot cleaner.

    I've always wondered if vinyl dye would work with a motherboard. Would it stick to the silk screen or just the connectors?

    I would recommend Tamaiyas waterbased hobby paint. Sticks very well on shiny plastic and comes in a wide range of colours.

    Apart from that I'd advise against painting the mobo at all.

    I'm interested but it seems a bit dangerous, and I've thought of putting putty in the RAm slots, trouble is how to get it out.

    Seems more trouble than it's worth.

    @mvagusta

    A mobo-cover is the best idea so far. Thanks you :thumb:

    Maybe one of black smoked plexi, got a sheet laying here around. I will see what I can do.
