Has anybody considered MIG welding for their mod? I'm talking about fabricating almost everything by welding it together. I know it's not going to work on modern aluminium and composite cases, but does the steel used in run-of-the-mill PC cases withstand amateur MIG welding? (drive bays, motherboard carrier, and other mounts) I'm asking this because I have a utterly bonkers PC mod that only an absolute nutter would consider... but it involves welding! All ideas are welcome!
composite and aluminium cases are possible to weld with a mig welder, but you need patience. When you can weld lead plates you are ready to go to the next level amon chan
Tack welds shouldn't be a problem, but trying a full weld will likely burn through. Is the MIG rig all you have available?
You can weld thin steel and aluminium with a mig so long as your using the correct gas and wire and you set it up right.
I weld thin plate with a mig at work as said your best of with spots and filler its ok to weld of a structural brace or frame as you can work the heat off of it.
