Quite a snazzy little puzzle game this with some nice graphics and sound. I like the way that each Pikmin has a different skill and you have to combine them to figure out the puzzles. A couple of annoyances... 1. There is a time limit to each day which is way too short. I hate it in fact and it will eventually be the reason I stop playing this game. 2. There is lots of typical Nintendo text dialogue which always makes me think I am playing a game aimed at 3 year olds. If you could get rid of the time limit this would be a great game as it is I can see it just being frustrating for me!
I played the first one on Gamecube many years ago. I like Pikmin. I think it's a good thing that each day has a limit. If you hit dusk, your pikmin will get eaten by predators. It makes it more challenging. It'd be uber boring if there was no consequences for staying out that long.
At least the limit for the game itself has gone. The first Pikmin game had a hard limit of 30 in-game days to finish it, which was just annoying. Pikmin 3 is the only game currently tempting me towards a WiiU.
Likewise i loved the first pikmin, although im not generally a fan of puzzle games with time limits i didnt really find it much of an issue in pikmin.
I guess it all depends on what happens when you run out of food. If you have to start all over again then it's going out of the window! I like to take my time, look around, enjoy the scenery - with a time limit it just becomes a race without really having time to enjoy the planet. I hope they update it with a sandbox mode as I can't see myself playing it much more otherwise. Still, it's very pretty and does show what the WiiU is capable of and it doesn't take 30 years to load a level like Lego City Undercover!
I'm not getting any of the next Gen Consoles as there are no games that interest me. Pikmin got kind of boring since each game is so similar. Even Super Smash Bros. on WII U doesn't have me interested either. But I think it's one of those games that'd make the WII U more appetizing.
