Hey there folks. You may remember me from my other post about the LCD screens I found in a local electronics surplus store. Well, I went back there today and found that they had a small group of Planar EL screens! I picked up 2 of the smaller screens which are 640x200. The model number is EL640.200-SK. I have so far found 2 files online that give good information about these cards, but I'm no real electronics wizard unlike some of you other people. :D Anyways, here are a few links to the info I found whilst surfing around...

    http://www.planar.com/Products/docs/IBU/current_manual/el/mn-planar-el640-200-sk.PDF

    http://www.quantum.com.pl/angielska/pliki/ds_el640200sk.pdf

I shall include some pictures later tonight of the screens.
As always, any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!!! :D

I've heard bits and pieces about using a CPU bus in conjunction with an SED series LCD controller to control this display. Some valid configurations I've heard are

    8051 microcontroller + SED1335 LCD controller
    80386 microprocessor + SED1350 controller

As a side note, would you be interested in selling me one or two of those displays? PM me if interested.

Thanks for the replys folks. I've contacted Micropak and they said that the SED1335 board they have will run the display properly. I'll most likey end out getting one of their board since they are in the sub $80 range. As for more screens, I have 2 of them and am willing to part with one. There was only a few of these screens available at the elctronics surplus store, so I'll have to check whats left. If you want a screen, please PM me and we can talk about it. I can't wait to get one of these screens working as it will look awesome in my new case mod. :naughty:

    You mean like this :naughty:
But don't hold your breath, i'm afraid it won't look very good coupled with a SED board.
BTW got some of those same SK's coming my way too :) Beat me to it!

Well I'm not looking for any animation to come from the screen. Just a status display with a nice logo that from time to time changes to avoid burn-in. Nice to hear you got yourself some SK's. From what I've heard they are really nice.
