Tried a "single player" last night. It was fun to play around but at 1am I was a little tired. Game has some serious potential though!
Yeah, but I can play the game while wearing my t-shirt and reading my art book once the alpha has finished
How much did you pay to back Star Citizen again? How did you manage to play a single player game? That option is not available to me and is grayed out (I only have a multiplayer server browser or quickmatch).
Start a match and simply start the game before anyone joins the game and the AI will fill the slots The AI is a bit poor, but it gives you freedom to mess around
How are early adopters getting on with performance? More precisely, how would Intel P4000 cope with 2560x1440? And after you stop laughing, how about lower res and settings? I realise that I would need to pop in something GPU-wise to play it with everything on at 2560x1440, I'm just wondering if I might be able to get away with onboard graphics. Rest of the system specs are more than reasonable - Xeon E3-1245v2 (aka i7 3770), 16GB RAM
I tend to get fairly steady FPS in and around 35-45. This usually drops to sub-20fps when I zoom out to the galactic camera. I'm running a 5870. I'd say you could get away with on-board if you scale all the detail down.
From what I've seen I'd suspect anything 'Intel' graphics wise definitely won't cut it - especially not at 1440p. From the look of it, the P4000 has 20 shaders..... How about just picking up a second hand GTX 460 for about £45?
My options are limited to NVidia MXM cards and a £100 heatsink. 670MX seems to be a good balance of price/performance - but that's still likely to come to £300-350 all in.
What kind of computer are you running? Xeons but only MXM? Inevitably you're going to get absolutely hammered on pricing for those cards.
