Quick update New additions New green star polyps Fungia coral Dot dash blenny Moved a rock over my mushrooms to shade them and they are doing well My acan is doing well now Some pics of zoas that popped up after I got the leds, I had one on this rock for ages and ages
Na dont bother with quarantine, the shops I use good quarantine procedures so I dont see why I should. I couldnt be bothered keeping a quarantine tank and keeping it cycled. With FW fish its worth it but marines are treated alot better in the shops so i dont bother just bought a vortech mp10 on ebay
Nice, how much did that cost you? I may look into a qt tank, though any tank that i start off with, will be small as funds wont be great to spend on the hobby at first.
Thanks all, but there is no way i'm risking taking my tank apart, or doing a bodge job when 600+ litres of water are involved. Sam
New additions from yesterday. Was in a fish shop and saw a yellow headed jawfish so had to buy it to replace the other that died suddenly This colt coral was a €15 frag, couldnt pass that
Some nice additions shig, there is quite a few nice corals down my lfs, when i was looking around today though there a good size and command a good price for them, the coral frag you picked up is very plentiful in store. Though did see a really nice Bluelined or Jigsaw triggerfish, very small cant rember which one it was but very nice.
didnt arrive yet, would have expected it though, hopefully tomorrow saw a really nice copperband. was kinda tempted but theyre alittle hard to keep and get just a bit too big for my tank really struggling to figure out what fish I want last, something kind of big, yellow tang sized or so but ive kinda gotten more into corals at the moment I bought some egg crate too to do abit of a rescape
As for fish choice really is looking at whats in lfs/books etc to see if you like it and then if it is suitable for you're tank. There is a few lfs on the other side of my county that have a massive selection of marines, which are nice to look at and get ideas from. Anyone in the uk been to any of the pets at home stores with a marine section- im considering visitng one though closest one is in high wycombe.
I havent had anything marine die after bringing it home, a few months later maybe. The shops I used do really good QT
Could be different laws on pet shops on the sale and condition of animals/fish, or possibly just bad lfs, proably worth checking around to find a good lfs if possible. You guys seen the tank of the month on ultimate reef- little fish lots of really nice colourful corals, is a nice tank.
my mp10 still hasnt arrived. messaged the seller the last week for tracking number the other day and never got back so ive opened a dispute. no big deal really, if I get my money back im happy enough, i dont really need it tbh
Picking up the new tank on Sunday, Hopefully picking up a nice bit of bogwood too, and i'm very very tempted to order 20 Corys, 2 species of Wild Corys. An expensive weekend ahead. Sam
