Since when did Prey "pioneer" the portal concept? Narbacular Drop was released BEFORE Prey, and that was an entirely portal-oriented game.

The cheek of some of these developers is beyond me.

Since they first introduced them in the original Prey build back in 1995. Prey had working portals years before anyone else.

Exactly! Even if Prey had working portals long before anyone else you can't just say "we pioneered them" when an entirely separate group comes along and develops the same idea independently - and then releases it before you.

Wow, that's actually kind of sad.

"Remember the five most mind-blowing games from last year? It'll be like all of them put together, except... mind-blowinger!!!"

I'll bet Prey 2 doesn't outshine even one of those games he mentioned.

How often does anyone truely pioneer anything then? Almost every single invention a particular person is credited with someone else came up with independently before hand. Regardless of the fact the original Prey was never released despite being 99% finished, or whether the Narboculer Drop devs came up with the idea independently or were inspired by Prey, the original Prey build was the first game that used portals in a proper gameplay setting, period. And given that a definition of 'pioneering' is "One who opens up new areas of thought, research, or development", the original Prey build definitely did that.

I'm not advocating his over-the-top fanboy speech, just explaining he's not totally innacurate for stating they pioneered portal tech in games.
