I picked up my friends pc as it has been shutting itself off rather randomly.

I managed to get into windows at one point with just a single stick of ram (removed the other 3) and it didn't shut off at all but ran so slow it was rediculous. I then disconnected the two HDD,s and put an old 64gb SSD in it to try and install windows from usb and also tried to try run mem test but it wouldn't recognise the usbs on boot.

Checked in the health section in the bios and next to Vcore it said fail so I think maybe the PSU has gone and isn't giving the CPU the correct voltage, swap out fir another PSU and I can now boot off of a usb stick but still have the Vcore fail message.

    Any ideas.

It's an old Core 2 duo E8400 system so not worth spending too much on it.
