I am looking into upgrading the sound card that I currently have on my computer. It's actually a c-media intagrated sound card, and as sound quality becomes more important to me I am noticing that there is more hissing in the background.

I want a good quality cound card. I was looking into the Creative Soundblaster live platinum (I think that's what it is called), but from what I have been reading on the forums Creative is not the best.

Right now I have Altec Lansing speakers w/ a sub that are hooked up to my computer. Eventually I want to connect the sound from my computer to a mini home theater I may/maynot be building.

I would look at some of the high end Terratec cards, or the M-Audio based ones. The Audiophile 24/96 is rated highly for pure sound quality....would probably be my choice if I had that sort of money to spend on a sound card.
