I'm not 100% sure on this, but watching some movies on WinDVD, it looks as if these aren't playing in progressive. Is there a program to play DVDs back in progressive? A computer monitor should be able to handle it, because they update more than 30 times a second, and it's not interlaced, so I'd like to take advantage of it, if possible. Would I need a specific DVD-drive to play them? I know that not all players hooked up to TVs can play progressive (And you usually have to press a button to start playing in progressive), so I dunno how it would work for computers.

    Anyone have any info?

get zoomplayer pro and the sonic or nvidia codecs. use ffdshow for post processing ... the HTPCnews site has a great article on it ...

personally all my dvd's are viewed at 1280x768, and look great both in zoomplayer and in powerdvd (except when the ati drivers make the overlay go purple randomly)

the guide is geared more towards hd/home theatre, but still works at 720p-ish resolutions ...
