Well heres the 1st part of wiring blue ice... heres a few pics...

    2 fans on side panel

    wires cut and stripped

... after this, i measured out how long the extra wires needed to be and cut and stripped the ends of those...

    Extra wire soldered and heat-shrinked

I wired together the 2 fans so I could control them both with 1 rheostat (did the same thing with the back 2 fans, and front 2 fans)

Soldered the end of one of the fans back onto the end, so it will power both fans at a perfect length to reach the rheobus :D

Then to complete the wiring I sleeved the lengthened wire for both fans to goto the rheobus... :) works nice!

Next I wired up the 3 front 40mm fans along with a back lazer LED (blue) to a switch, as well as wiring them all together so I could connect them with the use of only 1 molex...

3x 40mm fans mounted in bay cover with wires...

Positives and negatives split up and twisted together

Laser LED and extended (and measured to exact length) wires mixed into the twisted wires, then all soldered

3.5" drive bay measured out for switch holes

Switch holes drilled / dremeled (was interesting cause the odd side of the swtiches, so I had to do a lot of dremel work to get them to fit exact :) But I was up to the challenege! hehe

    Switches Mounted

To attach the wires to the switch, I picked up some little ends to fit on the back end connectors of the switch

Ends connected to back of the switch

You can see here how I mounted the molex cable ( so it will be hidden in the 3.5" drive cage, and will power all 3 fans, lazer LED, and be attached to the switch)

The whole mixup, after being sleeved and ready to be put into the case... Worked first time without any problems! :D:D:D:D:D

My first mod seems to be comin along nicely, eh?

I don't know y people aren't commenting on this.. but could you give us a shot of the whole pc? It's kinda hard to visualize it by just looking at the components. THanks

    Awesome.
I think I might do that with one of my 5 1/4" bays...

    What's the total cost? (approximately)

Money... a lot! I've had a lot of help from RN sponsors (thanks to all of them)... The case is a Lian Li PC-7 (not a 6 series), which itself is ~$120, all supplies, fans, etc... all together have prolly equaled about ~$200ish... I'll give a final tally when im all finished

If you're just looking to do the 40mm fan mod, that will only cost about ~$20 including fans, (bay you should have), laser LED, and wires....

Yeah, 20$ I originally hadnt budgeted into my current mod. I'll squeeze it in somehow. :sigh:

    40mm Fans are rediculously expensive.

    Todays Topic:

Larger cold cathode placement, extension of wires, and inverter placement for hidden useage.

    2x 12" blue cold cathodes + inverter + switch

Small problem emerged here... The cold cathode wires were not long enough... Thats easy enough to fix though...

    Chopped cathode wires

    Extentions added

Sleeved... MMMmmm, longer and looks better too!!!

Placement of dual cathode inverter under the HDD cage to make it hidden and still easily accessable

    Switch connected in 3.5" bay

Cathodes placed (a little hard to see) Both are vertical on sides

I did not sleeve the 2nd (cathode located on the right in the last picture), because it was so close to the place the inveter was, that the wires would not be visable at all anywase.
The inverter being hidden makes for a very nice clean effect, along w/ all wires hidden behind the HDD cage and any showing being sleeved... :)
