wow! that looks damn smooth!. i like the idea of the LCD on the window, although the Plexi that the lcd is on looks a little rough around the edge (might just be the pics) :thumb:

offtopic: how the hell do you type your name into the log in box? :hehe:

I actually found near a square meter of it on our local throw out day!!
Im still looking to find more as well :)

I found it to be pretty strong and very plyable for shaping.

the silver painted chassis in hp1? or the chrome job in hp2?
the first was painted in a spray booth at a mates shop with 2pak auto paint.
the chrome chassis was undrilled into 3 main sections and taken to my local chrome platers/electroplaters....they simply dipped it in chrome.. was very cheep cost me 30au

the fan mount is simply 4 x 4cm long screws that are bolted thru the front of the case then small 4mm chrome metal spaces were used to space the fan back.

i deliberatly drilled the 4 mounting holes to be 1 mill outside(larger diamiter) than the actuall fan mount holes! this way when i loosen off the screws they "flop" slacken abit, then i can slip the 120m fan over them......then when i tighten the screws back up they become ridged! holding the fan inplace....

if i havnt explained the method well enuf lemme know ill be happy to do a qik how-to and post it ... cheers

your right mate! its very ruff!! its more of a qik run thru just to see how it would look...... now im happy with the whole mod ill buy some more clear perpex and re-do it proper...... altho those ruff edges you see are simply rounded and smoothed off buy using a flame torch!!! its a glazing effect and is how they do it professionally :)

    Kenco uk wrote

i still have the original black tinted perpex window from when i did HP-1 and of course it would fit nps :)

but just thought it would be a bit dark for the LCD mod, i wanted to be able to use the screen at lans etc.

Again guys thanx !! these are awsome forums! its great to get good feed back.

    cheers

yer i sure do!!! i find that if i can anchor the bondo behind or to somthing it helps!
But i do use hotglue on the backs of most plastic mods as this is a better holder.

And of course always make your surfaces as "ruff'd up" as possible , to help bondo bite a bit better..

Theres is also a plastic ETCH primer (the same used on auto bumpers) i find that if i use that first, then primer! then bondo! i get better than average adheasion.

the liquid for the tubes was good old fluro-green UV water based paint!, i used a eyedropper to feed it in, then used the hotglue gun to seal off the ends !

The son asked me to make him a brain for his pc! sounds sill but its what i came up with :p but was fun...... and its all yours if you want it :thumb:

Hmmm... *rummages through garbage* I can't seem to be as lucky as you... dang, oh well, hey i noticed on one of your first picts, that you have a 120mm fan hole in the side of your case. Now i know on HP1 you had 2 60's?? for the custom radiator set up, so what ya go planned with this one??? I'm oh soo intrested.

G4m3R_X3r0 , hey mate! HPresII will be running duel black ice extreme 120m Rads! one on the side and one at the back, the rear of course will be sucking warm air out but the side rad will be sucking clean.also decided to go with all new Silver prop gear with 1/2" plumbing and swift mpc600, still working on a res idea, maybe somthing mounted externally.

Very impressed! Love the idea of bending and shaping the plastic tube, that would be a really good way to tidy up cables.

Its an idea but maybe you could paint your chassis (you know 2-3 coats of black paint then put 2 coats of clear coat on) and you could get a really cool looking effect with the chome being your "primer".

    Thanx again guys!

Well saturday is here and finally some more time to mod!!!!

Todays effort concerntrats on mooding the boring old base stand into a fully functional mutilmedia unit :)

The idea is to take the original boring old base and give it a life!!!

To make hardcore mod while making it look as tho it was supposed to be there all along :)

Next was to mark cut and shape the holes for the speakers, and to cut and shape the mesh to be used as the grills

Won't bore yas with talk and pics of cutting, dremeling and sanding!! but more the end results.

As yas can see the orig base sat rather back and under the front of the case, kinda there but out of site.

As this will be another main feature of the project i've moved the base forward to make it see-able and fuctional to use.

Now that the speaker grills are more or less set, next was to graft in a old usb/mike & speaker jack into the front.
A small bit of grinding had to be done to account for the round shape of the front ,Still leaving plenty of track for the unit to work.

Next was to cut the holes, usual stuff here! drills, dremels, and filing.

The ruffness of the holes you see will be cleaned up with bondo and highfill
and in the final wetrub before paint.....of course as always it has to look absolutly factory original as if HP did it :p

A preview, as you guys can see the base will now pretrude more forward and with the shape of the speaker grills should have a "Mean Mother" sort of look about it.

    Cheers.
