    okay
    lets get this party started
we start with the subject matter of the day
    the case
    [IMG]
gutless and empty with the side off, its a black hole
    [IMG]
and here we have the front of the case, still in its plastic blanket
simple lines, monolithic, and a clean-functional design
    [IMG]
    hard drive bays
cant wait to enjoy those, no more busted knuckles
    [IMG]
the back, where i will hide all of its cables or at least the bulk of them :D
    [IMG]
the back IO panel with the 140mm fan
    [IMG]
the top, WTF is the deal with those dents in the front?
    ill have to fix those
    [IMG]
i decided to put the side panel back on, that curve seems a little out of place
on a case that is so square and monolithic it just doesn't seem to work for me
    [IMG]
:dremel: i know that this thing is steel
    it weighs a friggen ton
and it will be a PITA to cut
but :dremel: :dremel: i dont want the blasted thing whistling at me
    [IMG]
re-location, im still not sure if i even want to keep it but ill burn that bridge later
    [IMG]
hmmmm they say those are for liquid cooling, but they look like a carrying handle to me
    [IMG]
threw my mobo in there for a size comparison
thats an ATX size, plenty of room
    for now
    [IMG]
ooooohhhhhh aaaaaaaahhhhhh color in a black hole
    [IMG]
    empty............. for now
    [IMG]
    i see you
okay so you have seen some of my ideas
well im off to make this thing cry mercy :D :dremel:

    okay, blasted delays
ive had to resort to use photobucket
    any way here we go
    [IMG]
now these cables are really long
and i know that i will be having an issue with available USB headers
so its time for some wire work
    [IMG]
i have no use for audio headers in the front of my case
so its time to loose em'
take off 2 screws and its gone
    [IMG]
2 screws here, and 4 more........ why not!
    buzz buzz, gone
    [IMG]
    thats looking better
now i just need to fill in the ports
    [IMG]
okay its time to get to cuttin!
    after i cut some hair
    subject A
    [IMG]
    and subject B
    [IMG]
    dissecting the wire
    [IMG]
tools of the trade and trash
    the plugs are ready
    [IMG]
now its time for the headers
    [IMG]
    after my first operation
    not enough lipstick and mascara
    [IMG]
    back to cutting preparation
    removing some of the guts
    [IMG]
    nuts and bolts
    [IMG]
here is why i performed the operation
to move all 4 of the USB ports to a USB hub internally, now i will just plug the hub into my USB port on my USB card
and i will also add power, so i wont fry anything out :D
    [IMG]
and these annoying things, completely useless IMHO
    [IMG]
    break out the BONDO!!!!!!!!
    first sanding complete

and the cutting begins!!! :dremel: :dremel:
spare bondo must be prepped for a flat top coat
    [IMG]
    the subjects
    [IMG]
the second application of bondo sanded smooth
    [IMG]
and you the size of the hole is obvious
    [IMG]
    a better view
    [IMG]
round one of filling and sanding finished
    [IMG]
    its empty!!!!!!!!!!
and now the mesh is back
    [IMG]
    over all as it stands
    well thats all for now

Do NOT use that reservoir. I almost guarantee you that it will leak. I have had two of them, and they are sh!t!
Nice paint on the cpu block!

This case Obsidian 800D is very beautiful!

    Great job!

I'm making a case that links your case Corsair Obsidian 800D, and Silvertone Raven 2, which is already in progress, then go there to see how it's getting.

This is looking great. Can we get some more details of how you mounted the res and pump? I'm thinking of moving away from my drive bay pump/res combo and I'm curious to see how it's done.

Some nice touches to the Obsidian. The top dents are indeed a bit odd.

Sleeving those front IO port cables decimated my sleeve stock! I'll never really use the front audio ports either, but I couldn't bring myself to hack at the case to be honest.

Interested to see how this all comes together. There aren't too many 800D cases here, so it's good to see what people come up with. The steel certainly does seem to eat through ones supply of cutting discs :D
