    Hello Bit-tech'ers!

Project: Nightrain is an evolution / re-envision of the original Nightrain scratch built case I made, which can be seen over at TBCS. Over time, my visions and desires changed and along with that came my need for a new case.

The case for the job is the Rocketfish full-tower aluminum case (aka Lian-Li). I will post hardware when that time comes :)

I apologize in advance for some of the pictures. It has been very muggy/dark and rainy here so I do not have the benefit of the wonderful thing called natural light. Add insult to injury, and I simply do not have the greatest lighting inside my apartment :nono:

Sketchup Design (This has changed a bit as I've chosen to go on a Black/silver path instead of Black/Red):

    The innards of the case:

One of the plexi dividers cut and bent:

    In place:

    The second divider:

Sunbeam fan controller mounted in an aluminum faceplate:

Mounted (Not set as final location):

Faceplates trimmed up for stealthed drives:

I did not like having to press the faceplate, so I am looking into switches to reroute the eject button.

Getting ready to etch the front panel (I didn't have masking/painters tape ... Do not use paper :nono:):

After etching the borders of the letters:

Filling in the letters a bit:

    Side window cut out:

Getting ready for smoked plexi panel:

    Panel cut:

    Etching the side panel:

Starting to fill in the characters:

This mod is just getting started. Both etches need to be cleaned up. I use a full size rotary tool for my etches so I have to take breaks often for my wrist's sake. The divider panels inside need holes cut for cables. I need to order another black plexi sheet to make the motherboard cover. The list just goes on, but as I mentioned, I am just getting started!

    :dremel: Mod on everyone! :dremel:

You had me up until the etching, but that's just a personal opinion thing anyway. I love the acrylic and the socket heads on the side panel! Very clean job.
