Ok, ready for my second mod after a lame first mod. This time I am going to mod a Lian Li PC-65B! I called it Plex simply because it was the first thing that popped up in my head so I might change it later on, suggestions? The hardware I will be using is: - DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D (939) - AMD 3500+ Winchester - PQI Memory 1GB - POV X800XL - OCZ 450W PSU - Nec DVD Burner And of course other things like fans, CCFL's and so on... Well, shall we start with some pics? The case from the front. A really nice and clean case - Lian Li quality! Window panel. I will try to remove the sticker or change the window if necessary. The back. I have big plans here so wait and see The other panel. The Sticker is really nice so I think it will stay on. The front which I also have big plans for. Wait and see. Panel removed. Behind door number 1! You can see that the aluminum really likes greasy fingers. Not much to do here but I have some ideas. The window panel taken off. The inside with some finger marks too. Some cables from the fans, power, reset and LED's. Some sunbeam fans installed. They will most likely be replaced by some A.C.Ryan fans. The motherboard tray. Very practical! Without the motherboard tray. From the back. continues next post.
The Hard drive rack removed. Some plans are ready for this. The speaker under the Hard drive rack will most likely be removed. Four of these screws removes the front from the small carbon things which mounts to the case. The front removed. Inside the front. Not much to do here. The Nec drive I will be using. All the drive bay covers. Big plans for these. Hint: PLEXI! Starting to look empty. The 3.5 rack removed. Mounts with 3 thumbscrews, really easy. From the side. The usb ports removed. The fan speed switch. Some cables. The sunbeam fans and filter removed. This is as far I got today. Need some new drill bits to disassemble the rest. From the back. All the cables I've removed from the case. That's it for today. No wait, a little teaser? Axel
UPDATE 10.04.07 I had some spare time today so I removed the sticker from the window panel. The window is still wet in the pic. The remains. I'm also ordering a lot of modding stuff from a danish webstore. They don't ship to Norway so it will be shipped to my uncle in Denmark and then to me. Pretty practical Axel
UPDATE 11.04.07 I'm going to mount a A.C.Ryan 120mm grill on top of the case. I'm also going to make a uv green plexi plate which I will mount between the grill and fan. Printed a template of the grill from the net. The whole top is masked. I made sure that the dvd burner and PSU would fit underneath. The template is taped on and ready for cutting. Unfortunately I couldn't cut it today. Decided to remove the sticker on the back as I have other plans for the panel - big plans. The panel will of course be cleaned later on. My door got the naked lady instead. Axel
Lookin good! Cant wait to see more. The 65B is a fun case to mod. If you want any ideas or help with modding your case check out my PC-65B. Link in my sig.
If you haven't made any cuts yet I suggest you allow space for a double radiator if you decide later in the future.
Looking nice! The green plexi, I think will look nice with the black case (if you intend to keep that colour).
Thanks man! I am following your mod and it is looking good. I'm not going to use a radiator. It is just going to be a fan there, but thanks anyway. Thanks a lot! Green is the color scheme so I will use a lot of it. Axel
UPDATE 14.04.07 I went out and bought 4mm drill bits and files today. Ready to drill out the rivets in the case. The top is taken of. And here it is Then the drive bay. That is everything that can be taken apart. The rest is one piece. Everything in my bed. I won't be needing this speaker. And it's out. comments? Axel
UPDATE 19.04.07 I have some plans for the motherboard tray so I disassembled it for easier access. Used the bed as my workspace. The plan is to have another fan on the motherboard tray. Masked up and ready to draw fan holes with an old fan. The holes are drawn. And then drilled. Filing for a perfect result. Test fit. Perfect! Then I made a template for the fan hole and taped it on. This is how far I got with one cutting disc. Finished. Some filing. Pretty identical. Looking for some c-strip in my mod box. Not exactly c-strip, but it's usable. The result! I am really pleased with this. Axel
Good job with the extra fan hole! Hard to say which one is self made. Also I personally like green, so looking forward seeing all those fans'n'stuff in the case
Thanks man... I have some time this weekend so I will probably get some work done and I also plan to order some stuff... Axel
UPDATE 22.04.07 I have been real busy this weekend because of a project for my art class at school. I had to finish my candle holder. What do you think? BUT, I managed to order some goods for the project. Some bolts, nuts and green carbon fibre vinyl. Normal carbon fibre vinyl is also on the order list. As soon as the goods are here there will be an update. Axel
UPDATE 27.04.07 I received the bolts and nuts which I ordered last weekend. Button head M4. Allen head M4. Nuts M4. Dome nuts M4. As I am going to use bolts instead of the original rivets on the window panel I started to drill out the rivets. Everything disassembled. I also had to make the holes m4 so I drilled all the holes with a 4mm drill bit. My pants after Then I masked up everything so that it won't get scratched before I receive the plexi which I am going to use on the panel. I plan to use green uv plexi between the bolts and the panel. Axel
