Hey everyone welcome to my first log on these forums. Heres the brief: I have been asked by a friend to build a custom case for his new system. Now when I mod cases function is always at the top of my priorities list however with this case im need to attempt to make it look pretty kool at the same time. Its going to house a top of the range overclocked system so it needs incorporate very good cooling and in addition to that it will be regularly used at lans so it should also be light weight and fairly compact. (No huge towers here then ) the only other requirements are that it should stand out from the crowd and be fairly cheap (no more than £50 in parts). Right now that’s out of the way we can get on with the pics. I found this great case on ebuyer for only £20 phew this log writing is tireing neway there she is. A nice case for only £20. You can see where the project name comes from now then! . personaly i dont like the stupid lights & grille very much so they will be the first thing to go! Its all a bit tacky relly. At the mo. im thinking yellow as i have a tin of that relly nice Fiat yellow sitting in the shed. dont go away more soon!
Heres what I got up2 today I stripped the whole thing down and decided to get rid of them stupid lights before they get anymore irritating! Now it took me a little while to find the best way to fill up the holes before the filler but in the end i decided on just cutting up a old bottle and glueing that on from behind. Its not the best job ive ever done but it works and looks gr8 from the front. mm goooie! here it is near compleation ive put a hole in for a 80mm fan grill more on that later!
Cheers guys only a small update 2day. Only had time to do one coat of primer today but here it is. Looking good in the pic not so good in real life. Still i was expecting to do 3-5 coats anyway so no big deal
very nice job with the filler! looks like there maybe an imperfection on either side of the blowhole, but I'm sure the paint will cover it. I love the fiat yellow Looking forward to seeing more, David
i think those imperfections are the engravings linked with LED indicators for HDD activity and power?
Yeh ur right there from the little hdd and power simbols there not a real problem tho. the filler primer will get those out pretty quickly after a couple of coats. You cant see it in the pic but theres also some imperfections around the area where the lights and grille were so they will need a little work aswell.
Excellent work squaring away the front of that case, those lights looked horrible. The paint looks great, I cant wait to see this beast with the rest of the coats. Do watch out for the symbols, though, because the rest is nice.
Hope your not gonna let this thread die...really interested to see how this turns out dude. Keep up th good work.
Did a bit of window cutting today, nothing too fancy but looks good. the side is finished but the top needs the other window cut out and the edges straightend up. its not looking too bad so far.
