ehh, been wanting a second pc/fileserver/portable pc thingy for a while, and stumbled across the perfect enclosure recently. Its made of 3mm thick extruded alu, and has internal rails. Seems to be fairly well abused, so I'm planning to sand it down to remove all scratches and such, then lacquer it.

The case,no flash, calibrated for tungsten bulbs.

Internal rails in the case, meaning I can moutn everytihng to a piece of alu or plexy and just slide it in.

Bottom of the case, stainless steel screws hold a removable bottom in. Notice the black feet, those simply must go.

This pesky label must begone also...

They're everywhere! But what is a "buttn"?

Perhaps my dual 120mm papst cast aluminum 120 VAC 33 watt deafening fans have found a home?

    I've ordered:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3424001407&category=42013&rd=1

to go in it. I have a flex atx psu I'm gonna put in there, i need to get a lappy cdrom, and I should be able to fit a 3.5 hdd in there also. It isnt high enough for a regular AGP card, so I will have to buy low profile ones(which for AGP, usually means baaad performance), or use a left angle adapter and put the network card on USB.

From a quick glance, that board appears to have onboard graphics. Shouldn't need much more for a server?

there were 3 of those on ebay, I sniped em all, and finally got the last one for $18. Some dude must have had an insanely high proxy bid, I ran him up to $30 or so.

Also got that for $7 on ebay. Chances are I will desolder the USB header, get another one of these, solder both to the mobo, internalise one and then externalise the other.

I have 2 of those hubs, they are the spawn of the devil...

Mine are USB 1.1, and seriously underpowered :(

Looks like a nice project, though. Subscribed :thumb:

worked on getting the stickers and labels off, pocketknife, wd40, and goo gone work fairly well.

Yo-duh, mine says "Ver 2.0" on the bottom of it, meaning it may be USB 2.0, or it may be a updated version of an old one. anyhow, it puts out 500ma per port, I tested it with a load of 800ma over 2 ports.

mobo got here 2day. Board only supports a athy 1.1 to 1.4, but i shoved a duron 650 in there. Gave me the no memory error and then i put some ram in and it didnt beep anymore and no POST. So either thats what happens when a board has a cpu it cant support or the duron 650 is toast. thinking back I didnt bother to put thermal paste between the die and the heatsink. Like i care, duron 650s are like disposable paper plates. Perhaps if its not dead and I unlock the mult i can get it to at least post. Too lazy....turns out the board has internal usb so I'll prolly ditch the usb hub being internalized...also, I'm thinking of getting a radeon 9200 low profile for the vid card...
