hey mashie.. just a quick idea.

If you got a wallwart that had enough current supplying capability at 12V, couldn't you mod in a switch (DPDT) that would make it use the wal wart when priming, then flip it back to the PSU side for normal operation? how much does that thing draw on the 12V line?

Guess how I got the other PSU running ;)

I was simply to lazy to disconnect all plugs for the main PSU when all I needed to do was to swap the plug for the pump :D

Wouldn't that turn on the CD drives and hard drives and everything for nothing?

Mashie I'm desperately in need of some green UV dye and yours looks perfect. Not too sure how well it performs under UV yet, but where did you get it from?

I'm planning on using a power supply I recovered from an external drive enclosure to power the fans in my system when I get that far. Maybe its somthing to look into for somthing like this as well when you need to run the pump aloe.

I really like the look of the lines, it reminds me of lighting bug guts.

I've got a eheim 1048 240vac pump. This is a 10liter/min pump as apposed to the 1046 (mashies) that is a 5liter/min. Just worked out how I can use an external 12vdc trigger, 2x relays to allow me to bleed the system also allowing the pump to start when the system boots up. Pretty nifty!

Pretty cool. What's the rating of that pump and where did you get it again? Quite a good idea to have a pump running from a standard molex.

It is an Eheim 1046 (300l/h) converted by Innovatek to 12V.

    I got it from here.

I used an Eheim 1048 with a 12VDC relay in Syrinix two years ago.

You might have seen this pic in the past...

The reason I went with a 12V pump this time was simply for the reason I needed it to be able to run on both 110 and 220V which it can when the PSU is auto switching.

Btw, I got the green UV dye from Pug over at Wizard Designs

Hehe that old pic looks pretty weird by today's standards. 90 degree connectors? :baby: hehe

Yeah, watercooling has evolved a bit since then... Those 90 degree bends might look like a killer for flow but I must say they probably are the least restricting parts in the system due to nice big ID :)

That box is doing nothing but collecting dust nowdays since I still have to find a good use for it. I don't really have the heart to sell it either since quite a bit of work went into it...

mashie, you are the master m8. I remember the first time i saw one of your mods in Computer Power User, and this just backs up my theroy that you make some of the most unique mods there are. Great job on this. You've inspired me to create somthing like this, but with a little more "movement" :naughty:

    Looking great! :)

It'd be cool to have like a pair of jaws or antennas.

    Hello mashie.

Im new to the forum. I came over because I heard the quality of the work being done was much higher than where I was. BOY, was that an understatement. I feel honored to be among the members in here. You my friend have an incredible eye and I will definately be following your mods in the future. I can only hope that what I learn from you can be put to some unashamed use.

Others in here I posted this in mashie's thread cause he seems well followed but from what I have seen there are many of you who are high caliber modders. If it takes me a while to post in your thread forgive me for I am intent on reading every post in every page.

Mod on all you talented mo fo's :hip:

the case is going to move for sure, and thats about it... I may have it be remote controlled, i dont want it automatically walking off my desk.....

going to be watercooled much like your case....

    EDIT
    ---------------------

How is the Eheim pump compared to the Hydors? I'm looking to get into watercooling and i need a suggestion.
