omg! a hippie bus, haha i always wanted one of those, my neighbor has a REALLY beat up one (more beat up than the one in the 3rd picture) and he almost ran me over with it, it broke down recently so they had to tow it away , but that thing was awesome xD. nice project, i say you go witha dull red, mabe a light burgundy or something keep up the good work!
I think a light blue might be the best colour. I like the old VW models too. But my favourite ist definatly the old VW Beetle.
Yea, I like those "cars" too... Go for a light blue... it's the most original color I know. And put a small surf board on it.
THEkorean> Damm how jealous i am. To be honest, i must say that i have never saw a VW Bus in my life. In reality sure. Here, In Lithuania, we have none. n0ll4k> Mine's too, especialy classic ones, to 1968. But, you know, it's quite hard to give a shape of vw bug to a non custom case. But who knows... aon`aTv.gsus666> Persenoly i in this picture appreciate girls... Small surfboard was the first idea i come up with, when i thought about vw bus mod. You can see that in sketch. I will also try to put a roof rack. But we will see about that in future. Color: I think i will go with surf green. Thank you all for voting. I promise, that my next mod (if it's going to happen) will be painted in red. And i can asure you, that it will also be retro style.
just found this, awesome idea, my dad had 2 kombi's (he had no choice with 14 children), so i grew up with one in the driveway, many fond memories. might i suggest a pearlescent white to contrast the surf green. mod on
The Roof is on Fire !!! Sliding roof making : So one of unique features of this project is sliding roof: So i got two peaces of plywood from my grandpa. They are not in a best shape, but they ar good for me, becouse they are free
good polyester putty work... NOT not supposed to crumble like that! Thinner layers are better then one big layer of putty... that's what I've learnt sofar great work though, very nice ROOF!!!
These railings (?) must be in the same high as the top of the plywood, so i used few pieces of plexi to do that... Rough edges.... Bad, Bad.... But we can fix that
Few holes for roof mounting : I glued the top part of the roof: Round edges and putty, putty, putty...
Roof, Roof, Roof... Sanding: Spraied with Motip putty: At the end. An idea for WaterCooling. A camping trailer. These trailers were always importat part of bus culture... It's a pitty, but these are only dreams. I don't have money for WC and there are no possbilities to get some. So i am waiting for yor comments and advices.
Are you kidding me? All this work in one day? Are you out of your mind? anyways GREAT WORK, amazing what you have done 'till now And the watercooling idea is AWESOME, really, too bad you don't have money to buy some... (I'm afraid I don't have the required funds either, would love to have watercooling in my mod ) any more updates coming today?
Roof is on... Works: 1. Roof sanding 2. Front panel sanding 3. Trims sanding 4. Roof is on !!! Trims: Front panel and roof: These are quite smooth and after spary putty and primer they will be at the top condition. Few Pictures of full case... Now total view is not very satisfiing ,but after paint it should be good. I hope so...
This is looking really good! A splitty case mod! ive got an idea, you should make some miniture safari windows for the front!
Thx. I'm thinking about one big safari window in front where cd-rom should be, but that will be quite hard to make ,becouse i don't have taht "arm" to hold the window, so i will have to make it by my self.... But i will try... I will...
Now, you ARE going to have the CD-ROM sitting so that the disk faces outward to the front of the case, and that the trays come up underneath that sliding roof, right?
