Alright i'm a complete and utter idiot when it comes to electronics. I want to put a PS1 lcd screen in my computer but the guides kinda confused me. Well, actually 1 part... I think your supposed to take the wires and actually solder(sp?) them into the little thing where you plug in your moniter...is that correct? If it is how would i even plug in my moniter? Thanks for helping through my ignorance. EDIT: tell me if I need to clairfy...I prolly just spelled clarify wrong...go me.
You get a 15-pin D-sub connector that would plug into a monitor port and solder the wires from the LCD on to that. You then plug that into your monitor port. Sounds like you only have one monitor port... which could be a problem. These are typically used as secondary displays. Which means you need two VGA ports (or a DVI and VGA with a converter)
Just about every recently made graphics card has at least two outputs.... typically three: RGB, S-video, and DVI. I think you can wire them up to S-video also if they aren't prewired for that, so that's an option. The IQ won't be quite as good but you won't have to fiddle around with powerstrip either.
Ys, your going to have to recognize howmany plugs your video card has. Typically you get three ports A typical VGA port which is for your CRT monitors and some LCD A typical DVA port which is for your LCD monitors/sometimes instead another vga And sometimes a s-video or composite for outputtin to something such as a TV. Your going to either need a card that supports a secondary display or you can get a Tuner card that outputs, however, I recommend just getting a new display card. I know that i was looking for a card that had to have a secondary display AND be low profile, and Sapphires's Atlantis 9600se was the best card I could find.
