This may seem like a stupid question but it seems best to be certain.

Just received my sexy new MSI GTX 970, it requires a 6-pin and an 8-pin power connection, my PSU (HX850i) has 3 cables each with 2x6+2-pin PCI E connections, am I right in thinking its ok to usejust one cable with both of the connections for the GPU, only reason I ask is as it from the same cable it seems like a single 8 pin could provide the same power if its on the same cable?

Help asap would be grand as I'm getting anxious to plug this bad boy in.

    Regards
    Mike

Technically you can but I personally wouldn't. Spread the load over two cable runs.

Single cable run will be fine.

That PSU is designed with a Multi-GPU setup in mind! :thumb:

yeap, its a 70A single rail psu, so you will get away with using a single cable (so long as the conductors are suitable)
