what do you guys think of building a computer desk from 1 1/4" pvc pipe?
i would use 3/8" mdf for the top, and an under desk cpu tower holder

if your planning on making a desk out of mdf and plasic tubing you seriously need to question both your design and ergonomics skills

give it a go and do a log of it all. it could turn out quite good, cant really get any idea of what it will look like by looking at your explanation, prove the above wrong

thanks for support, but im wondering if (even if properly cemented) the joints would be loose. btw the main part of the pvc is for the frame. thiers alot of pics on : http://www.pvcworkshop.com/ but i think i can make my desk look way better than thiers.

Heres a pic of the entertinment center my brother built just before leaving for uni a couple of years ago. Made out of 3/4" plywood, 1 1/4" pvc and threaded rod. Works / worked great (Hes still using it 4 years later) and it dissasembled completely flat to fit in the back of his car. And to top it all of it dosent look that bad.

    Hope that helped

pvc can be pretty strong when properly glued. certainly strong enough for a desk.

the one issue is that it willl most likely turn out looking like ****... something like tm36 is probably the only even decent looking way to do it...

Very strong vertically, but laterally can be quite wobbly if not braced in many places. I did something similar once. It looked awful as well. Post pics when you're done tho... prove us all wrong.
