    My CPU temps at the moment the core-temp screenshot was taken was at 30-32C

    Stock clocks, Maximus Formula, watercooled CPU.

    thats definitely a mite high, that might be reasonable if you were running a stock intel cooler, but not watercooled

    Since everything seems to be working fine except for the temps, I would take off the block and buff it and reseat it with fresh paste...... from the sounds of it you've more than likely just got a crappy seat on there, or the block your using is curved sufficiently enough so you dont have contact across the entire area...... thats What I'd check first before i warrantied for the temps

    a bad cpu wont run hot, it just wont run. If you want to rma something rma the block. But reseat it first.

    Update:

    I tried using the proc on a friend's computer. He too has a watercooled rig, using a Dtek Fuzion V2 block, and a thermochill 120.3 rad.

    First, we measured temps using his Q6600, temps were around 25-30c, with the Q6600 clocked @ 3.0ghz

    My Q9450 measured around 40-45C on STOCK.

    Any advice?

    My Q9450 runs at 40C on idle at stock with TRUE and I use a TJmax of 95C.

    I'd say worry more about load temps than idle temps.

    Something is definitely not right. Should be cooler than the Q6600 at stock. Try reseating again.

    sounds a bit high for stock settings
    i get similar temps at 3.5ghz with a fuzion and 120.3 rad with slowass fans :p
    same board too

    tried reseating the block? got any kinks in tubing or anything like that?

    What's the ambient temperature and the case temperature?

    @Ending Credits

    Sorry, but I have no way of getting case temps ATM. But the least I could say is that it's quite cold in my room due to AC.

    @Hamish

    no kinks, using coils on my tubing:
    [IMG]

    I placed coils on the two other tubes for balance, the only kink I saw was the CPU-NB tube.

    @lamboman

    just reseated right now, temps still around the 40's

    BTW, I tried OC'ing the proc. The highest I could get was 3.2ghz, (not tested for stability). Anything higher = BSOD.

    Damnit :|

    I'm thinking of selling this and just getting the 9550.

    in my experience you need a fair bit of voltage on the NB to get any kind of decent overclock out of it
    yours is watercooled so you should be able to go quite high
    mine is rock solid at 3.5ghz 220fsb with stock cpu voltage :)
    but needs more nb voltage to go higher on the fsb and with passive nb it gets a bit hot as it is ¬_¬

    According to PC ProbeII, assuming its accurate, my stock Q9450 is running at about 12C idle (Enzotech Ultra-X, Asus Rampage Formula)--mobo is at 34C, ambi is 25C.

    think you must be looking at the wrong sensor dude ;)
    no way in hell you're getting below ambient temps with a normal HSF

    Nope--definitely the CPU temp, whether its accurate or not I don't know. Enzotech Ultra-X...temps here seem to range from 8.5-20C (85-150w High fs) to 15-30C (85-150w low fs), if this test is legit it is within the realm of possibility.

    EDIT: Just read that frosty tech's readings were taken as 'rise above ambient temp' rather than actual core temp. PC probe must be off...way off ;)
