this is from this forum dont know if its the type of screen interface you need but i couldnt find much info about the screen
It looks like a standard HD44780 display, 16x2 character with LED backlight, the pinout seems to be identical (first datasheet). 99% of character displays like this are hd44780 or at least are compatable (rip-offs basically). You can either hook this up to the parallel port as per normal, using just a printer cable, some wiring for the power to it (5v) - you may need a resistor for the backlight - look for a resistor near pins 15 or 16 (in series with). you will also need a potentiometer for the contrast adjustment. If you wish to connect it to USB or SERIAL you will need a controller IC - there are a couple about that use a PIC or AVR processor to take serial comms and output it to the LCD, it is not terribly hard and there is plenty of info about. If you want a cheap fix, try looking at LCD2USB for instance : http://www.harbaum.org/till/lcd2usb/index.shtml note that USB -> Parallel adaptors wont work as they immitate USB printing support and not an actual parallel port... Good luck, Alex
Thinking of doing this too, heres a link to the LCD I have (http://www.varitronix.com/Product/character/VL-FS-MDLS16265SS3-04.pdf), would I be right in thinking that I would need to buy 1x UH03D and 1x M100R (Maplin codes)
