all good except from the board, swap it for a p8p67 or msi p67a-gd53. the msi board seems to be the current favourite in its price range# link for bit-review of 6970 http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2010/12/15/ati-radeon-hd-6970-review/8 also, how long are you keeping the gpu for as it might be worth while changing it for 560ti to save yourself some cash, the 560ti would still trash everything @ 1600x900 and suit you for a long time @ that res
I cant get the P8P67 or the MSI board where I am, it is quite hard to find parts in australia, I have to find a board that is either Asus or Gigabyte. Ill have a look into the 560ti even though it might be hard to find where I am. Also would it be worth looking into the 1GB 6950 as a other option? It does also depend on how much money I am willing to pay when I decide to upgrade.
here you are mate, not sure if this store is any good but they have p8p67 for $146 5th one down http://www.ddcomputer.com.au/parts_SUB_socket1155_MAN_ASUS_CAT_MB.html might be worth getting in touch to see when they get them back in stock
So why is the Asus P8P67 LE a bad/not recommended board? It has everything I need and its affordable. What about the MSI P67A-C45(B3)? I buy from either www.pcdiy.com.au - website isnt finished but there is a parts price list. Or I buy from http://www.msy.com.au/default.jsp I will also buy from www.pccasegear.com (only if I have to!) They are both the cheapest stores that I can find in Australia. So I'll either get the 6950 or the GTX560 TI depending on which one is in stock. Lastly DDcomputers is in another state and I wont be able to get parts shipped or flown over.
Definitely. At 1600X900, a 570 or 6970 is massive overkill. A 560 Ti or 6950 will be more than enough, and something like a 6870 or GTX 460 would probably be sufficient.
not bad or anything just quite as good a board as the other 2 there you go http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=7547 edit:just noticed there out of stock as-well looks like youll have to stick to the p8p67-le. there is nothing wrong with the board just that the other 2 are better
msi p67a-c45 would also be decent, only difference between that and the gd53 i believe is the lack sli/xfire support CPU: i5 2500k - $212 RAM: Patriot Gamer2 8GB 1600MHz LGA 1155 - $90 (unsure whether to get a better brand and just get 4GB instead) MOBO: Asus P8P67 LE $129 GPU: gts 560ti $361 your ram is fine and patriot are good just make sure you get 2 4gb sticks, so apart from the gpu which ive changed the list is good but like i said if you can then get the p8p67 or msi gd53, if you cant then it s no biggy at all, also get yourself a decent aftermarket cooler with the cash youve saved, the be quiet dark rock is excellent.
Thanks Chrismarkham. I will be getting the p8p67 if I can get it but If I cant i'll just get the LE version. So it will definately be the GTX560 TI or 6950 depending on which one is in stock at the time. I am not buying this for a few weeks because I need a bit longer saving up But Thankyou and your help is much appreciated!
