So ive been enjoying certain games lately that have pretty minimalistic game mechanics but I just find myself playing them for hours upon hours. I enjoy games where I have to keep trying to "beat" a level or to "master" it in a certain amount of time. For example in Super meat boy you can just keep instantly retrying until you finally nail it, or the simple mechanics of FTL make it easy to learn but harder to master. I've grown a little bored of the usual AAA games with tedious story lines that hold you back to much from actual gameplay, I want to just load a game up and get straight into it for a bit up pick up and play fun. There's no specific genre of game or style of game. Ive been playing Binding of isaac FTL Dustforce Super Meat Boy Door Kickers Trials Fusion Greed corp Defense Grid Dont Starve Race the sun Looking foward to playing Super Hot once it drops a bit in price. Any other games I can try out?
i loved the hotline Miami games and party hard wasnt bad, they are pickup and play for a little while and to make a perfect level run is fun
Nuclear Throne is like Binding of Isaac on crack. An oldie but Beat Hazard is awesome. If you like Defense Grid try Gemcraft: Chasing Shadows.
Hmmm, OlliOlli Sword of the Stars: The Pit Revenge of the Titans Titan Attacks Space Run Reus Helldivers Game Dev Tycoon Battleblock Theatre
Just been looking though my old Humble Bundle purchases and found half a dozen games I didn't even know I owned, one being Canabalt which I've just been playing, it's pretty addictive.
Gonna add more votes here for Hotline Miami (1&2) and Nuclear Throne. Also Necropolis, Party Hard, The Solus Project (early access), Wings of Vi and Ziggurat in no particular order. If you get Besiege and like it, then there's also Poly Bridge (early access). Also I can't do a recommendation list without this one. If you like open-ended heroin: Stardew Valley. Let us know what you get
Just going to second the Bit.Trip Runner nomination. I have Bit.Trip Runner 2 on the Wii U and it's the epitomy of a game where you have to persist at a level to nail.
