    Hi guys,

Time is drawing near to upgrading my Ati 6780. I am looking at the Asus DirectCU II cards, and Im tossing up between the 670 or 680. The 680 is going for £395 whilst the 670 is going for £323.51. Is the £70 difference worth it for the extra performance? Ideally I want a card with quiet cooling performance but one that will last for the next 2 to 3 years playing the latest games on high settings.

Personally I would go for the 670 and put the £70 towards something else. You can ramp up the 670 to near enough the performance of the 680

It's not worth £70 more. Keep your money.

Having owned a 670 (and loved it), for 1080p I'd still recommend a decent 7950 for the money. You can overclock them by up to 50% which will keep up with an overclocked 680 in most games.

Then you'll have even more than £70 left spend on beer and hookers.

Whilst this is a most excellent suggestion, I'd put the £70 in to a SSD, probably 60GB but you might find a decent offer for a 120GB somewhere.

And if the OP went for a 7950, based on the current lowest prices on Scan he could save as much as £137.27, which is enough to buy a high end 128GB SSD or almost all the way to a 256GB mid-range one.

I'd second (or third) the 7950. My MSI Frozr III overclocks to 1200, but I keep it at 1100 as it seems to be the sweet spot. Keeps me happy @ 2560x1440. The extra ram is nice too.

I have always had ATi cards, so fancy switching over to the other side for the change. The 670 is looking like the real option.

How about a 4gb version of the 670?

just in terms of single card performance, the 7950 and 7970 are way ahead of the 670 and 680 in terms of value

7950 keeps up with the 670 (and beats it depending on the game), and overclocks like a mofo, and it's cheaper. 7970 beats the 680

if you want to switch for the sake of switching imo get the cheapest 2gb 670 you can find, the 4gb is a waste of money

See with the new ps4 having so much video/ram memory I'm not sure 4gb will be overkill for future games.

Though I agree atm that the 7970 or 7950 would be better choices.

i'm not sure about how the prices are in the UK, but here in the US you can get a standard 680 for the same price as a 4gb 670

no reason at all to get a 4gb 670 with the current prices, especially given that it performs almost the same as the 2gb model. the 670 isn't powerful enough to take advantage of all that vram
