i have a small idea for a mod i want to do i want to take a remote door bell wich is basicly a remote RELAY. and make it start my pc, by anoter realy. so when i push the door bell, the pc is switched on but!!! i also want to wire up my DVD. so after the pc is on, the door bell won't power off the pc but make the DVD open. in other words, after the pc is on. there is a 12v/5v. so i just put another relay that makes the dvd open when there is 12/5 but when there is no 12/5. it will switch the pc on. can some one help me with this? all i have is the idea
I'd use a relay wired to the psu so when the pc is powered down, the door bell is connected to the power switch, but when he's powered on, it's connected to the dvd
I might suggest finding a 2 channel method. Using the doorbell to turn on the computer is also a handy method to turn off the computer, as most motherboards are by default set to interpret a momentary press of the on button while the machine is on--as a shut down button. That said, you will need to fill some details (as to what part is powered, how SPST vs SPDT etc.), here is a basic diagram of how you generally might want it: Diagram I've been using car remotes to control things on computers for a little while: Thread here. Details on the remote wiring are on page#7. navig
i dont know if this will help you but it mite this was on the fourms awile ago telling you how to wire a doorbell to a pc
here is my idea (try to understand it) relay 1 = closes when i push the door bell relay 2 + 3 = closes the mobo or DVD depending on if there is 12V (= psu is on) so... first time i push the door bell the mobo circut will close and the pc powers on... so far so good... after that... the psu is on, and relay 2+3 changes to close the DVD next time i push the door bell... will it work?
I think my diagram would work, which is essentially the same as yours, but without relay#3, which I'm not sure is necessary. Also, I'd recommend using the 5V line to power 5V relays, so as to spare the generally relatively more important 12V line. navig
Looks like it'll work to me. Altho I still think my diagram will work, altho I did get 2 lines crossed, which I edited. navig
