Yesterday I ordered a copy of Vista Ultimate OEM from Tekheads. The item arrived earlier today but they had sent me Home Basic instead. The problem is, I've broken the OEM seal on the packaging, and it was only after breaking this seal that I had any way of knowing what was inside. There is absolutely nothing on the outer cardboard sleeve which indicates what version of the software is inside. I have submitted an RMA request on their website but I've got a feeling that they're going to be funny about accepting a return seeing as the seal is broken. Has anyone been in a similar situation before? Am I likely to be screwed over by this? Would Microsoft be likely to help out if I were to contact them regarding the matter?
Well given they sent you the wrong item I would assume it's a customer service issue....phone them up and shout down the phone!
I imagine you'll have protection under the Distance Selling Regs, afaik there's a clause that allows people to examine products and therefore open packaging without losing their rights to return items.
Will do. They've authorised my return though I haven't said a thing about the seal being broken. It does seem a bit silly to me that the name of the software isn't printed anywhere on the outer packaging.
Its probably cheaper than Windows 7 is and includes a free upgrade. But im just speculating. I dont know why anyone would buy anything other than windows xp
It is way cheaper, but no, it doesn't include a free upgrade. I won't be getting Windows 7 for another few months at least.
Well they didn't kick up a stink like I suspected they might, and my copy of Vista Ultimate arrived yesterday
