Recently completed this and it took me an age, don't get me going on checkpoints in games, but overall I found the game too repetitive, particularly the levels in hell. With all the Arena battles it does feel like a series of old school Quake or Unreal Tournament against bots, but anyone who has played those games continuously against bots knows it gets boring after 10 or so rounds, but Doom has so many 'rounds' that eventually I just wanted it to turn into a corridor shooter.
The Arena idea was a great addition to the Doom gameplay, I just feel they overdid it and would have preferred a few less arena battles.
I'm not going to lie, when I saw the title I assumed this would be revisiting the 1993 original...
Unless you qualify "Doom" with '(2016)', I'm going to assume you mean the actual Doom.
