    Ok i'm setting up a network that will include 1file/BB server 2 pc systems and an Xbox, they all lol yeah it sucks manneed access to the internet as well as file sharing capabilities, so the question is what type of router/hub do i need? preferalbly on a budget. not after wireless as it's not as reliable as wired. Do i just need a DSL/Cable Router, or something else any advice?

    Thanks

    What's a "BB" server?

    Just about any router with a few integrated ethernet ports will do. The people fussy about routers are the ones needing special (online) gamming features and other requirement, none of which u mentioned.

    OK, so I am in mangled-English U.S., but I don't think there is such thing as a BB server. A XX server denotes whatever XX service the server box is providing. Your server box is not making broadband available to your users. The ISP is.

    Sorry to split hairs, this is not one those Brit thing is it? :)

    dsl-modem ---> dsl-router ---> switch ---> machines

    if you've got a router with builtin switch:
    dsl-modem ---> dsl-router w/ switch ---> machines

    there are also dsl-routers with builtin switch and modem.

    Any old router with a lest 4 ports will work for you in your case.
